For the past 15 years, Karley Weeks has played the beautiful game of soccer. Her family moved to Redlands from San Diego a year before she attended High School and looked to gain a successful and welcoming experience.

“I moved to Redlands when I was going into 8th grade, I had a new Coach and he saw the talent in me and it really helped build me as a player.”

Weeks played forward for Redlands East Valley High School (REV) up until her Junior year as she concluded the season having scored 22 goals and had 11 assists. The 18-year-old athlete has contributed much to her school and for the first time in about five years she helped lead the Wildcats to the second round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs last season.

REV Coach Daniel Graff said:

“She’s just a natural goal scorer, with either foot, going from the run of play (or) set pieces. Just every big moment that we needed her to pop up with something she was able to finish off what we started.”

In the Citrus Belt League (CBL), she missed two games due to sickness, but persisted and scored 15 goals. Her consistency drove her to see success as she was presented the CBL Offensive Most Valuable Player award.

Pateadores Academy taking her to a new level

Weeks is now a Senior, but no longer continues to play for REV as she invests her time in another club team called Pateadores Academy, which is based out of Irvine, California. The team practices four days a week and strive to see success. Regarding her team, Weeks stated:

“Everybody works really hard and we work well together when we stay positive.”

Weeks has been under the leadership of her Academy coaches Martin Maguire and Neil Powell for several years and has experienced much growth as a player. For the past five years, she has worked with Maguire and within the past two years has also been led by Powell.

As we talked about her club team, she had much to say regarding their achievements and how they can improve as a team as well. While they're not at their best, they have much to look forward to with the start of this new year.

"I want to play professionally for sure," Weeks said, "I don't even know what else I want to do besides play professional soccer."

Some professional players that Weeks looks up to are USWNT players such as Alex Morgan, Sydney Leroux, Mal Pugh, and former USWNT forward, Abby Wambach.

University of San Francisco

Since her Sophomore year of High School, Weeks has been committed to the University of San Francisco. Head coach Jim Millinder previously coached at USC for about 11 years and has been coaching at USF for about seven years.

“He has experience and I’m really excited," stated the two-year committed forward.

Weeks has visited the University about six or seven times and is excited for what is to come in her college career as a soccer player. Her experience has helped shaped her in new ways that have allowed her to expand her skill and eye for the game.
