NWSL alters registration rules for the 2019 NWSL College Draft
The 2019 NWSL College Draft will be hosted in Chicago at the United Soccer Coaches Convention on Jan. 10 and has brought about several changes for eligible players.
This year, the eligibility rules have been slightly altered to give more opportunities to women looking to expand their career.
The three rules have been implemented by the NWSL:
Be a player who will forego any remaining college eligibility or must have exhausted their eligibility during the 2018/2019 academic year, and
Be at least 18-years-old during the College Protected Period (which ends at the conclusion of the 2019 season), and
Register for the draft with the NWSL by the deadline at 4 pm ET on Wednesday, January 9, 2019.
The draft consists of four rounds with the Chicago Red Stars first on the list to pick. The registration for the draft will open this Monday, Nov. 19, according to the NWSL.
With the draft taking place at The United Soccer Coaches Convention, it will join thousands of coaches and administrators to make the right fit for players.
The draft will be open to the public and will take place at McCormick Place at 12 p.m. in Chicago.
