NC Courage midfielder Makenzy Doniak tears ACL on the first day of preseason
This morning, midfielder Makenzy Doniak of the North Carolina Courage announced that she tore her ACL on the first day of preseason on a social media post. Doniak endured this injury on Monday (Feb. 19) and will no longer be able to play for the 2018 NWSL season.
In her post, Doniak stated her beliefs in God and how he will help her through this.
According to the Courage, she will be placed on the IR and will go forward in having surgery on her left knee to repair the ACL tear. Doniak will still be involved in the recovery process with the team for the 2018 season.
Doniak joined the Courage in 2017 after the Western New York Flash relocated to North Carolina and has a solid standing in her first year.
Last season, she appeared in 21 matches and recorded a total of 1,214 minuets. She also had three assists for the NWSL Shield Winners.
On an international level, the California native was on loan with Adelaide United in the Australian Westfield W-League and scored seven goals within 12 games.
