Washington Spirit officially sign forward Mallory Eubanks to replace Cali Farquharson
Earlier today, the Washington Spirit announced that they have signed Mallory Eubanks to replace forward Cali Farquharson.
Farquharson suffered a left tibial stress injury and is now placed on the 45-day disabled list of the NWSL.
The 21-year-old replacement was selected in the second round of the 2018 NWSL College Draft from Mississippi State University where she was named the 2017 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Eubanks made her first debut of 65 minutes with the Spirit this past season when they faced the North Carolina Courage and fell 4-2 against the Courage on April 14. Since then, she has had a total of three caps for Washington and they finally decided to sign her for the season.
The last match that Farquharson played with the Spirit was on May 5 against the newest addition to the NWSL, the Utah Royals. Farquharson was substituted in the 81' minute for defender Caprice Dydasco.
This past weekend, the Spirit once again traveled to WakeMed Soccer Park to face the Courage, but Farquharson was on the bench for the entire match.
This Sunday, May 20, Washington will welcome the Portland Thorns and Eubanks will be on the roster, ready for the action that awaits her on the pitch.
