Chicago Red Star forward Sam Kerr reached her 50th NWSL goal this past Saturday with a hat-trick against her former team, Sky Blue FC. One year ago, when she was with Sky Blue, she also scored a hat-trick at the same field in New Jersey.

Kerr led Chicago to a 3-1 win against Sky Blue, which put them in fourth place. The 24-year-old Australian is the first player in the NWSL to score 50 career goals and her third goal marked her as the first player to have achieved three hat-tricks.

In 2014, former Seattle Reign forward Kim Little broke NWSL history as she had concluded her NWSL career with 32 goals. Last year, North Carolina Courage forward Jessica McDonald topped Little’s record and scored her 33rd goal in a 1-0 victory against the Boston Breakers. Since then, the torch has now been passed down to Kerr.

Kerr scored all three goals within 24 minutes. Her first came in the 40th, second in 45th , and her record breaking goal in the 62nd.

During the offseason, Kerr was involved in a three-team trade along with Carli Lloyd, who went to Sky Blue and Christen Press, who joined the Utah Royals FC. The trade sent Kerr from Sky Blue back to the Red Stars.

Currently, Kerr leads with eight goals so far in the season. Following the match she tweeted:
